National Homes has just released its first set of luxury townhomes in the masterplanned Lakeshore Woods community in Oakville, as well as a small group of estate homes closer to Lake Ontario.

The project, launched in 1998, includes more than 16 hectares of woodlots and six hectares of parks, open spaces and woodland trails. It is being built by Rosenhaven Homes and Aspen Ridge Homes as well as National Homes.

"These parks and walking trails and woodlots, and soccer and baseball fields, are all in existence because the community is almost three-quarters completed," says Mary Marrello, marketing manager for National Homes.

A natural creek system runs through the development, and "the streetscapes are architecturally blended," she says. "There are even leash-free dog parks."

Located just north of Lakeshore Rd., between Burloak Dr. and Bronte Rd., Lakeshore Woods is now 70 per cent sold and about 70 per cent occupied by 800 families. When complete, the community will include 1,200 homes on more than 130 hectares of land. Lakeshore Woods is now two years ahead of its scheduled completion, Marrello says, and limited collections will be released throughout the next year.

This is the first time National Homes has released townhomes there. The Waverley Collection of Town Manors will feature 34 freehold townhomes ranging from 1,500 to 2,100 square feet, with seven floor plans, all with attached garages.

"We've taken a 'detached' approach to the town manors," Marrello says.

"These town manors are inspired by the singles," with stone, stucco and Georgian-style facades, and are exclusive-looking. They're more of a manor home, more thoughtfully planned." Buyers range from young families to retirees.

Interior features include big open-concept family spaces and gourmet kitchens; special attention has been paid to the master-bedroom suites, with separate bathtubs and showe4rs, "Jack-and-Jill" vanities, and sitting areas. The town manors start in the low $300,000s.

The Harbour collection of 24 estate homes come on 45- and 50-foot-wide lots, a minimum of 110 feet deep, on a cul-de-sac near the water. These detached homes will range from 3,100 square feet to more than 4,000 square feet (with a three-car garage), and start in the mid $700,000s. They come in eight models with two elevations each. Three fully decorated model homes, decorated by interior designer Mike Niven, are available to view.

The houses include $100,000 worth of features "you won't find anywhere else," Marrello says, including granite countertops, upgraded trim, and hardwood flooring throughout, except in the foyer and wet areas.

Lakeshore Woods is situated next to the historic Bronte Village, formerly a fishing village and now an extension of old Oakville, says Marrello, with shops and a harbour club. The sales centre is located on Great Lakes Blvd., north of Lakeshore Rd. and west of Bronte Rd. Hours are Monday to Thursday 1 to 8 pm, Friday by appointment, weekends and holidays from 11 am to 6 pm.
